Remember, the Ural sidecar is an evolution of a BMW WWII military machine. It's a damn rugged design. The biggest merit is the dual-suspension system for the tub. Like any rig, it has a trailing arm suspension on the chassis, but unique is the pivoting/suspended design which de-couples the chair itself from the chassis.

Ideally the weight of the whole motorcycle sidecar rig should be spread two-thirds onto the bike and one third onto the sidecar. Meaning that, for example, if the bike weighs 900 lbs. with rider, then a 300 lbs. sidecar would be appropriate. If the bike with rider weighs 1200 lbs., then the sidecar should weigh 400 lbs.
